Danielle Peazer Reveals Details of the Final Message
Danielle Peazer has given details of the final communication she got from Liam Payne only “a couple of weeks” before his tragic death at age 31.
Peazer, 36, who dated Payne for more than two years after meeting him on the set of The X Factor UK in 2010, posted details of the letter on Instagram on Sunday, October 20.
“Receiving a message from you a couple of weeks ago expressing your happiness for the love I found with Sonny and Mia is something I’ll cherish forever,” Peazer, who delivered her first child, daughter Mia, with her radio DJ husband Sonny Jay, in May, said in an online homage to the late singer.
Peazer also emphasized in the post that she is devoted to assisting Payne’s family, including son Bear, 7, whom the One Direction singer shared with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole, in the aftermath of Payne’s death. Us Weekly verified on Wednesday, October 16, that Payne died after falling from a third-story balcony in Argentina that day.
“His most important role and something he was the most proud of out of all of his monumental successes was that he was a father,” Peazer wrote, along with a black and white photograph of the former couple standing with ice cream cones. “The thought that there is now a child growing up without one of their parents is heartbreaking and unfair. To Liam’s son Bear, as well as his parents and sisters, my love, thoughts and strength goes to you. The immensity of this loss is unimaginable and I will continue to support you in any way I am able to.”
Peazer also said that despite the pair’s romance ended in 2013, the split represented “just the start of our journey.”
“The things we went through and experienced from then all the way until last year could be described as unique to some and misunderstood by others,” Peazer said in the essay. “But I think deep down we always knew we’d have some sort of connection forever, no matter where our individual lives took us.”
Peazer stood at Payne’s side as One Direction finished in third place on the competition program, just as their celebrity increased across the globe. Peazer praised Payne’s accomplishment, and the international notoriety it garnered, in her Instagram post.
“It took a little longer for you to figure out the person you wanted to be in order to be your happiest, but whilst most of us have our teens and twenties to learn about ourselves, you spent those years giving more to the world than you ever needed to,” she wrote. “I wish you knew that you were always more than enough for this world without having to search for a role to play just to please others.”

A preliminary autopsy report read by Us found that Payne died from “multiple injuries involving “internal and external hemorrhage,” and was believed to be in a “state of semi or complete unconsciousness” at the time of the fall.
After word of the tragedy came, Peazer turned to Instagram Stories on Saturday, October 19, to convey her immediate disbelief. “Over the last few days, I’ve been trying to process the news of Liam’s death. Thank you to anybody who has taken the time to phone, text or DM conveying condolences and offering support,” Peazer wrote at the time.
After Payne and Peazer split up, Payne went on with the likes of Sophia Smith, Cole, 41, Maya Henry and Aliana Mawla. Payne was dating model Kate Cassidy at the time of his demise.
Payne is survived by parents Geoff and Karen, elder sisters Nicola and Ruth, and Bear.
