Everything to Know About The Way Home Season 3
Get ready to jump back in time as season 3 of The Way Home arrives on Hallmark Channel in the new year.
The network announced in March 2024 that the mysterious and mystical series will be returning for a third season — and this time around another decade would be examined. During season 1, viewers met Kat (Chyler Leigh) and her daughter, Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow), when they moved in with Kat’s mom, Del Landry (Andie MacDowell), following Kat’s divorce.
Viewers immediately realized that the Landry ladies had a sorted past with the community when Kat’s younger brother, Jacob, went missing when he was just a youngster. While exploring further into their family background, Alice accidently started time traveling — using a mystical pond on their property — and found herself becoming friends with the younger version of Kat from 1999.
Season 2 included another time period when Kat travels back to 1814. While there she realized that her brother (adult version of Jacob portrayed by Spencer Macpherson) was alive and living in that age.
When it comes to season 3, Hallmark suggested that the Landry ladies will be forced into the world of 1974, which is when Del met her now-late husband, Colton (Jefferson Brown).

Who Is Returning for Season 3?
MacDowell, Leigh and Laflamme-Snow are all back as the Landry women. Macpherson will also be back as Kat’s long-lost brother, Jacob, while Brown will continue to make flashback cameos as the late Colton Landry. Evan Williams is reprising his role as Kat’s love interest, Elliot Augustine.
How Did Season 2 End?
After a complex connection with the year 1814 in which Kat saw her brother as an adult and helped save him from the Red Coats, she tried to convince him to jump into the pond and return to contemporary day. During the season 2 finale, which aired in March 2024, Kat broke ties with her revolutionary war love interest Thomas Coyle (Kris Holden-Reid) and offered her romance with her best buddy Elliot a second shot.
If there wasn’t enough drama, Jacob did accompany Kat back to current day, which came as a surprise to his sister. When the episode closed, the siblings prepared to face their mother and explain that they had been time traveling with the help of their family pond.
Another cliffhanger showed that Colton was observing the Landry residence in current day. That suggests that he too has been time traveling since he is dead.
What Can Fans Expect From the Season 3 Premiere?
Hallmark said in November that season 3 will begin off with Kat and Jacob “poised to walk into the Landry home to an unsuspecting Del.”
According to the press release, “Viewers will be introduced to a new era where Alice will visit. During her stay there, she encounters interesting persons whose tales offer meaning to the history of the Landrys and provide answers to certain problems … but open up new ones.”
Kat, meantime, “Attempts to close the door on the 1800s after making startling discoveries.” In the current day, Sarah and Elliot “navigate a new chapter in their relationship, while he finds himself faced with his own complicated past,” according the description.
Will Elliot and Kat Stay Together in Season 3?
“Season 3 shows that there’s some growing that needs to happen for both Kat and Elliot,” Williams told TVLine in December 2024. “And I’m glad that the writers are also not making it simple. Like, it’s not a binary issue, and because of that, if they can manage to find their way together, it will be that much more rewarding.”

What Happens in ‘The Way Home’ Season 3 Trailer?
Hallmark published its first teaser in November 2024, suggesting that both Alice and Kat will travel back to 1974. According to the trailer, “the mystery deepens” as the ladies watch Del and Colton’s love story unfold the summer they met.
In the second video, published in December, Alice discovers “someone other than us is time traveling,” but she doesn’t divulge their name. At one point, Kat understands that Alice “got sucked somewhere in time” before she comes up at a summer gathering where her grandma and grandfather are hanging out.
While Alice learns more about her ancestors, Del requests in current day that Kat “please stop running off and choose us.”
Kat, meanwhile, looks to be totally dating Elliot, according to the second teaser. “Speaking of endings and new beginnings …” Elliot says while dancing with Kat.
Lastly, the film gives proof that Jacob goes home to the present day, but doesn’t reveal if he meets his mom or if he remains for long.
